Zachary Black

(b.1453 - d. 1515)

BIOGRAPHY:

Zachary was born to Sarah Bonner and Ewan Black but his life did not get off to the best start. Zachary's mother Sarah was only 18 when he was born and whilst she loved her little son her love for her husband and for adventure meant that she followed him to battle. Zachary was left in the care of Chrissy, Sarah and Ewan Black's neighbour. Chrissy already had four children of her own but she cared for Zachary as though he were her own son. In time he forgot about his parents who had left him at the age of two.

However, whilst he did not remember his mother, Chrissy always told him that he had her spirit. He too grew to love archery and practiced at every opportunity, Chrissy even bought him a small practice bow.

Then in 1461 when Zachary was just 8 Sarah returned from war, much worn out and exhausted. He did not recognise her but something told him that the man who came with her was not his father. He had to move in with his mother and her companion Bill. He resented this at first but war had changed Sarah, she was not the free-spirited, care free youth that left for battle. Instead, she had returned a mature woman. She kept no secrets from Zachary and even told him how his father died, "run through with a sword he was, but my Ewan, he got up and fought again, and again. He died a hero in war my son. Just you remember that." She often told him how like his father he was in appearance and this pleased Zachary no end.

As time passed the three bonded and Bill and Sarah took great pleasure in teaching this little boy how to fight and shoot with great skill.

Zachary is now 18 years old and can often be found in the company of his two favourite young ladies, Emilia and Flora Moppit as well as Chrissy's 2nd oldest son, Owen, his best friend.
